What is Kestine?
Kestine is a new generation, non-sedating allergy relief medicine from Laboratorios Almirall - S.A., a world leader in Allergy therapies. Kestine effectively controls the common allergy symptoms without causing drowsiness and sedation, thus allowing you to carry on normal activities.
Kestine in a single daily dose effectively controls the common allergy symptoms like runny & stuffy nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, itching nose, eyes & skin and other day to day allergic disorders without effecting quality of life.
Kestine's rapid onset and long duration of action controls allergy symptoms round the clock. Kestine can be taken in the morning when it is most needed.
Kestine contains Ebastine as its active ingredient. Kestine produces a strong and prolonged selective blocking of the peripheral H, receptors for histamine. Ebastine has a longer duration of action that allows Kestine to be administered once daily. The drug is free from any anticholinergic activity since it has no access to central H, receptors for histamine, it does not show sedative effects. It does not potentiate the effects of alcohol.
Indications
Kestine is indicated for Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions, such as: allergic rhinitis or conjunctivitis, both seasonal and perennial (nasal discharge, nasal itching, eye itching, weeping, sneezing, etc.), chr6onic urticaria and allergic dermatitis.
Dosage
Adults and children older than 12 years
Kestine 10mg tablet or 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) Kestine Syrup once daily. In severe symptoms Kestine 20mg tablet or 20 ml Kestine Syrup (4 teaspoonfuls) once daily.
Children from 6 to 11 years old
One 5 ml dose (equivalent to Ebastine 5 mg) once daily.
Children from 2 to 5 years old
One 2.5 ml dose (equivalent to Ebastine 2.5 mg) once daily.
There is no need for dose adjustment in patients with mild to moderate liver function disorders.
Contraindications
Kestine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
Precautions
Since ebastine reaches its therapeutic effect 1 to 3 hours after administration, Kestine must not be used in urgent acute allergic cases.
